I. Brief Introduction of BKLF

As a Chinese private partnership, Beijing Kingdom Law Firm（BKLF） was founded in 2001 by the famous lawyer Zhang Xingshui since he came back to China after getting master degree of law in America.

As a full-service law firm, BKLF provides a wide array of legal services domestically and internationally to clients. The firm's comprehensive practice covers a wide variety of legal matters, ranging from local litigation to international communication.

There are four aspects that we mostly concentrate on:

II. Our Lawyer Team

Since its inception, BKLF has established a wide range of practice groups dedicated to satisfying the needs of clients. Now our team is made up of more than 20 lawyers and several assistants. Our lawyers fuctions as a professional counselor, giving advice to people in the conduct of their daily transactions and other affairs or help them draft legal documents. They also act as an advocate by assisting parties in the litigation or out-of-court settlement of their legal controversies. They represent clients in a court of law or appear before a regulatory body. The firm's legal services have always responded to an increasingly sophisticated economy and politics.

Once a participant, it is the duty of the lawyer to advance the interest of the client. We believe that lawyers are bound to assist the court in dispensing society’s concept of justice under the law and attempt to secure for clients by proper means and advantage that the law offers.

III. Our Speciality

BKLF has built on its strengths especially in criminal cases, land claim, estate ownership compensation and human rights protection. For example, we help peasents in Zhejiang Province win the famous “Longquan case”, which is the first case in China that the State Council judge the provincial government lose the lawsuit and protect the peasents’ benefits to the most.

BKLF is also devoted in public welfare, deeply concerned with the constitutional progress of China and show comprehensive attention in legal development of China.

We promote legal complementation of China through taking practical actions such as the Danish platform for Human Rights--Revision of the Criminal Procedure Law and the Protection of Human Rights in China. In that project lasting from 2006 to 2008, we have cooperated with Danish Institute for Human rights, Chinese Social Science Academy, Haidian Procurator and Guangzhou University. Based on empirical surveys and deeply researches, we put forward proposals of Criminal Procedure Law to China’s legislation, providing various materials and constructive suggestions to legislators in order to make a matural and ingenious law.

We also successfully hold lots of seminars to discuss many complicated cases or social phenomena with experienced scholars and famous professors. The discussions gain wide attention of many officials and medias, raising public awareness of legal rights and promoting China’s legal development.

BKLF have gained a high degree of trust and confidence with clients, the court, and with society in general. Due to its rapid and steady exploration and expansion, our firm has became a famous law firm with a distinct characteristic and prestigious reputation in China.

IV. Our Promise

There are more and more reputation from home and abroad for the competency and integrity of our legal services. we will stick to the belief that as justice and freedom are born to every person, we should take no pains and devote ourselves to protect legal rights of all sufferers and make better conditions for all the citizens in every fields such as farmer’s real estate ownership, rights for compensation, labor rights, freedom of religious belief, freedom of speech, liberty of express and so on. Profile of Director Zhang XingShui：

Zhang Xingshui, director and chief lawyer of BKLF, was born in Qingdao,Shandong in 1967. Now he settles in Beijing, a member of China Democratic National Construction Association and co-director and researcher of Open Constitution Initiative.

He worked in Department of Justice after graduating from China University of Political Science and Law in 1993. Then he studied abroad at the Law School of Temple University. After receiving master degree of law, he came back to homeland and started Beijing Kingdom Law Firm. He is good at English and also the member of National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer(NACDL).

Because of his continous persuit of justice and freedom, Mr. Zhang is well known for his predominant work in civil rights protection. He shows much attention of the vulnerable group and the poor, and gives them unselfish help, so he receieves various awards from home and abroad.

He believes that every person should take reasonable and mild attitude to the legal development in our society, so that we can play our own part to step further into a democratic and civilized country which will benefits all citizens.
